Traditional Transfer Press

In the Metal Forming Design Guidelines, it is stated that for increased productivity, two or more basic metal forming operations can be combined in dedicated tooling. The transfer tool IS the KING of productivity tools.

When thinking about transfer stamping you have more than one option to reach your desired productivity. You can choose the traditional large transfer press or a tandem operation with a press to press transfer system.

At the 2015 Tokyo exhibition SEYI demonstrated the latter. Two SD1-88 direct drive servo presses were integrated with an Orri transfer robot and destacker.

Using a method called "simulating control" SEYI used Crank Motion (from beginning to 3:00 on video below) and link and hold motion (Demonstrated on left side press after 3:00 in video) to show how you can use a tandem press system to match or even surpass the productivity of a traditional press system by coordinating speeds and settings of each device.
