SEYI SLG Series - Link Motion, Heavy Duty, Deep Draw Presses

Link motion for efficiency and accuracy

SEYI’s SLG model is a heavy duty link motion deep draw press that will increase productivity on your floor while extending the life of your tooling.

The link drive design allows the slide of the press to approach your application quickly, slow down through the draw then return to the top quickly, this allows for your job to be accurate and efficient.

The SLG is available in two versions “H” and “S”. The H version has shorter stokes which allows for a faster speed. The S is the standard stoke but is slower than the H model.

There are a wide array of benefits to adding the SLG to the floor at your facility including but not limited to easy automation integration, increased productivity, and extended die life.

Contact us today and a SEYI representative will assist you in selecting the correct press for your project. Also, watch our brief video below on the SLG and see this press in action and learn even more about this industry leading machine.

FABTECH 2015 Wrap-Up

FABTECH 2015 McCormick Place Chicago Illinois

Complete show wrap-up

Hard to believe FABTECH is here and gone another year. There is no question this show has a lot to offer under one enormous roof. We hope you had the chance to visit us at the SEYI booth. If you didn’t, we hope you have been able to follow our updates on Facebook and LinkedIn. I’d like to take you inside the show with me, and highlight some things I experienced

Demonstrations

Demonstrations of our SD1-88 servo press were the main draw at the SEYI booth. Attendees who stopped by were amazed at the speed and low noise of the servo press as it glided through as many as 35 strokes in seconds in vibration mode. Our neighbor in the metalform neighborhood had their servo hammering away shaking the ground, while the SEYI servo make an extrusion look as simple as slicing through a Chicago deep dish pizza.

The attendees were also treated to a brief overview of the SEYI servo control HMI with seven preprogrammed profiles in addition to a free motion profile. The combination of flexibility, ease of use, and control all led booth attendees to the same conclusion; The SEYI servo press is an outstanding value that will add life to your expensive and important tooling and will allow your company to be competitive in the job bidding process for many decades to come.

Questions

FABTECH 2015 gave SEYI the opportunity to help attendees gain familiarity with our company and our product. SEYI’s team CEO and President Claire Huo and Cyrus Kuo, Vice President of Sales and Service for SEYI America, Lanny Griffin, Regional Sales Managers Alberto Garcia, Randy Kish and Scott Braito, and Sales Managers Rob Hoover, and Efren Tirado were available to field questions. Popular questions included “How does having a Seyi servo press increase my die life?” “What about working with difficult metals?” and “Where are the Seyi manufacturing facilities?”

The Manufacturing Facilities of Seyi

From Our Factory To Your Floor

In addition to a sales and service team that spans the globe Seyi has two manufacturing facilities one in Taoyuan, Taiwan and in Kunshan, China which is an hour north of Shanghai. These facilities combined have over three hundred and seventy one thousand square feet of production space and employ over seven hundred people.

The Taoyuan plant just outside of Taipei is the home base of Seyi. The Taiwan plant is the where all production for global markets take place. At this point presses as big as one thousand six hundred ton have been built here for a variety of applications and markets across the globe.

The Kunshan facility in China has two production areas measuring over two hundred and thirty six thousand square feet. Production at the China facility is only for the China domestic market.

These facilities have an experienced work force. More than thirty percent of our workers have five or more years of experience. Both facilities use high end state of the art machinery for fabrication. Seyi has invested 3.4 million dollars in our own equipment while our competitors outsource critical machining.

Put our experience to work for you. Let our team of seasoned mechanical, electrical, and tooling engineers bring your project to life.  We guarantee a solution that not only performs for what you need today, but positions you for whatever opportunities come your way.

Going Beyond Press Manufacturing
“Metal Flow made the decision to open a new manufacturing facility in China to manufacture automotive components for the local Chinese market.  We were fortunate to have a customer who committed business to us, but their timing demands put us on a very tight timeline.  We made the decision to purchase our press from a Chinese supplier and after some research and recommendations, we selected SEYI as our supplier.  We have had a great experience.
SEYI has done much more than just manufacture a press.  They have provided advice on doing business in China, they have helped us to identify and negotiate with suppliers for other aspects of the project, and they are providing turnkey project management for the press foundation, and the installation and integration of our auxiliary and support equipment.
This project has had many challenges.  Regardless of the issue, SEYI has been there to support us.  They have helped us work through changing schedules, facility construction issues, and the general uncertainties of starting a new facility in China.  They have acted like an extension of our team in China.  On the press side, they have not only constructed a highly customized press on a very tight timeline but have lead the integration of several other pieces of equipment and controls.  They have kept the project moving forward thru timely communication and a high level of responsiveness to all of our needs.
We have had the support and commitment from the highest levels of the company to ensure excellent project management.  SEYI has delivered on that commitment.”

SEYI America New Strategic Business Units Expand Product and Territory Focus

Not to be outdone by the recent launch of SEYI-Mexico, SEYI-America is growing its presence by adding three new business units that will strengthen both territory and product development in North and South America.
According to Albert Chen, Executive V.P. of SEYI America,

“It all comes down to organization, removing the clutter.  It’s not possible to continue doing things the same way and expect to innovate our products and elevate customer experiences.  With the SBUs, each manager will direct strategy and deploy resources in a more controlled and focused manner.”

Internally, SEYI America is taking the next step in galvanizing global collaboration, especially with its Taiwan and China factories.
"With one point of contact for each division," says Mr. Chen, "we will further improve consistent, transparent OEM support, no matter where our customers do business."

Large Press Systems Division

Managed by Scott Braito, The Large Press and Systems Division focuses on the detailed design, engineering, and project management requirements commonly associated with large, multi-press projects.  As SEYI America’s chief mechanical engineer, Mr. Braito brings more than 15 years of experience in SEYI’s product line and engineering complex systems.  His strong working knowledge of controls, automation, and integration will play a key part in coordinating with a team of factory engineers, equipment partners, and tooling designers.
“Companies are running with such lean staffing that equipment suppliers are being asked to provide more complex, complete integrated and turnkey solutions. The Large Press Systems Division will work closely with our customers and partners to ensure projects are designed, delivered, and installed on time and on budget."

Latin America Division
Alberto Garcia, a press industry veteran of more than 10 years, will lead the development and growth of Central and South American markets while continuing his coordination with SEYI Mexico.  With refined press knowledge, business development acumen, and bilingual talent, he will build on existing SEYI successes within the region, expand distribution and service, and bridge resources from SEYI America, SEYI Mexico, and the Taiwan factory.

Servo Press Division
Randy Kish
With 15 years of technical sales and business development experience in electric motor and stamping industries, Randy Kish heads up the Servo Press Division.  His focus on product development and applications will drive the further integration of SEYI global resources towards customer support and service.  Randy will work closely with the Taiwan Forming Team and Servo R&D department, as well as with SEYI’s network of tooling designers and tryout centers.
“In the case with servo, there’s no question that the market is still catching up with the technology. The Servo Press Division fills the gap in knowledge and adaptation.  We’re creating a unified channel of support, service, and continuous improvement.  It’s one way to help customers fully realize the advantages of this constantly evolving technology.”

SEYI America Adds New Members to its Service Department

Over the last year, The SEYI-America Service Department has gone through a major face lift.  It's nearly tripled its in-house service capabilities.  Joining the team at the SEYI America Service Center and Showroom, located in Tullahoma, Tennessee are Stephen Deaton,  Kevin Appel, John Oosting, Renee Abelardo de Hoyos, and Robert Hatfield.

"Qualified, seasoned service technicians are hard to come by," says David Hattabaugh, SEYI-America Service Manager.  "We've been fortunate.  Two of our new guys are transplants from up North; Illinois and Michigan. Both of them had previous experience with press repair companies.  Renee, who is actually now part of the SEYI Mexico office, has had years of machine repair and electrical experience.  And we rounded it out by grabbing young talent from a local technical school."

While the new staff has years of mechanical experience, much of the hiring criteria focused on electrical knowledge.  "With today's servo technology and advanced automation, troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical issues are a priority.  Our new guys came in with the knowledge and experience, and are familiar with PLC programming, logic, and electrical."

There will be a person focused on office administration and marketing, two people focused on direct customer sales, and two service technicians. This workforce is believed to meet the current needs of our customers and in the near future the hiring another sales person and a service technician will address in a more efficient way the personal attention to our customers and the market. Upon completion of these first two years, SEYI Mexico will have an office and warehouse space where we will have parts and presses for demonstration and research for the Mexican industry.

Both Horacio Peña Villarreal (Manager), and Marcela Hinojosa Amarante (Administration & Marketing) were trained for a year in SEYI’s corporate offices in Taiwan for insight into the product, and planning the strategy of this office in Mexico with all SEYI’s senior executives worldwide.
The objectives of this new office of SEYI in Mexico are to be able to reach and surpass the levels of customer satisfaction, increase the presence of SEYI in Mexico, and provide support for research and development for the industry in collaboration with educational institutions.

SEYI-China Kicks off 10 Year Anniversary with New Office Complex

The final finishes are being completed on a new five-floor SEYI KunShan Office Building and accompanying Dining Center.  Rising above the 230,000sq.ft. + of production at the SEYI-China factory, the new office complex is scheduled for move-in later this Spring.

According to Albert Hsu, Director of Administration, “…The new office could not have come at a better time…”

“We needed this,” says the 18 year SEYI veteran.  “The office building and dining center offer something for everyone.  We are centralizing the sales, purchasing, finance, IT, and R and D Departments.  They will be together in one building.  By moving these departments, we will have more room to expand our production and training.  The new office also has plenty of meeting and conference space.  We think that this will make for a more pleasant and productive experience for our customers and other guests.
We are also very excited about the dining center.  It is state of the art, and it will provide the latest amenities for our more than 300 employees, as well as for special events like the 10th anniversary.”
The new office complex sits across from Plants 1 and 2 of the
current factory complex, encompassing more than 230,000sq.ft.  Plans are to add a third building and expand even further.     Plant 1 is the C-Frame assembly building, and current residence of all administration offices.  These are the offices that will be relocated to the new office building.  Plant 2 is dedicated to straight side assembly, up to 2,000t presses.
